What is the difference between a 3D and 4D ultrasound?

A 3D ultrasound is a static 3 dimensional image of your baby. 4D adds the dimension of time, allowing you to see your baby’s movements in the womb in real time.

Can this take the place of an ultrasound at my doctor's office?

No. An elective non-diagnostic ultrasound should not be considered a substitute for a complete diagnostic ultrasound. Women seeking an ultrasound at A Peek in the Pod 4D must be receiving prenatal care from their healthcare provider and have already undergone a medical, diagnostic ultrasound to confirm their due date, screen for fetal anomalies, or any other pregnancy related issues.

Do I need an appointment?

Yes. Call 786-953-7633 today to schedule your appointment.

How far along should I be before I have an Ultrasound?

2D ultrasounds with gender determination are performed after the 15th week of pregnancy. 3D/4D ultrasounds can be performed any time between 9 and 39 weeks but the optimal time frame is between 28 and 32 weeks. 3D images we have taken between 13 and 39 weeks can be viewed on Instagram at #apeekinthepod4d. Call today to schedule your 2D or 3D/4D Peek in the Pod within the optimal time frame.

Will I always get a beautiful picture of my baby?

No, not always. A 3D ultrasound is a medical procedure used in obstetrics to obtain images of a developing baby in utero. It should not be considered a photography session. The images produced during an ultrasound depend largely on the mother and baby. Please refer to our Tips for Preparing for Your Ultrasound. Whether you get a picture of your baby’s face, hands, feet, body, legs, etc. Any photo of your baby will be beautiful.

Can I bring my family and friends?

Yes. We encourage friends and family to attend the ultrasound session. We can accommodate up to 10 people.

Are you able to tell the sex of the baby?

Yes. In most cases we can determine the sex of the baby. However, if the baby does not cooperate despite our best efforts, we will schedule a return visit for another day.

Is the 4D Ultrasound covered by Insurance?

No. Insurance does not cover the cost of elective ultrasounds. We accept cash and all major credit cards. We do not accept checks.

What kind of Ultrasound equipment do you use to perform the 4D Ultrasounds?

We use the state-of-the-art Siemens Sonoline equipment to complete all ultrasound examinations.

Is ultrasound harmful to my baby?

No. Ultrasound is a specialized exam that uses sound waves (not x-rays) to view your baby. No radiation is involved.

How much does it cost?

Please refer to our pricing section to select a package.

Do not drink soda or any other carbonated beverage for at least 48 hours prior to your ultrasound. Drink plenty of water on a regular basis. Having a glass of water right before your ultrasound will not do much good. Start well in advance of your appointment. Drink eight 8 ounce glasses of water a day. Water is not to be replaced by any other fluid. Water alone helps clear up your amniotic fluid and ensure that there is enough fluid around your baby. The more fluid around the baby the clearer the images.

Stay away from caffeine prior to your ultrasound.

No sweets until after your ultrasound.

If you are in your third trimester, or late in your second trimester please use the bathroom before your appointment.

Lastly, consider inviting your family and favorite people to your ultrasound to share in the amazing experience.
